This road is long, straight, and hypnotic. Drivers commuting after a long shift are prone to “micro-sleeps.” If they drift left into the median where your crew is working, only one thing saves lives: Concrete.

The Need for Forgiving Resistance

On urban streets, you use plastic cones. On the Al Dhaid Road, a cone is just a plastic missile waiting to happen. You need a barrier system that provides “Forgiving Resistance.”

Our F-Type Barriers are designed for this. When a car tires side-swipes the barrier:

  1. The Slope: The tire climbs the lower slope of the barrier.
  2. The Lift: This lifts the suspension, signaling the driver immediately through vibration.
  3. The Correction: The upper face deflects the car back into the lane without rolling it over.

Visual Guidance in the Dark

The desert sections of Al Dhaid road can be pitch black at night. Construction lighting helps, but the barrier line itself must be the guide.

Gapless Installation is critical. Our installation teams use laser alignment to ensure the barrier wall is straight and true. We use connection plates to lock the barriers together so they act as a single ribbon of concrete, preventing gaps from opening up over time due to vibration.

Logistics: The Long Haul

Supplying a project that stretches 30km into the desert requires logistics discipline. You cannot rely on a single central yard. The travel time kills your efficiency.

We implement “Rolling Stockpiles.” As the paving crew moves forward, we move the barrier supply forward. We keep a buffer of 200 meters of barrier on the ground ahead of the work crew at all times. This ensures that the safety protection never lags behind the excavation.

The Cost of a Crossover

The worst accident on a highway is the “Crossover”—where a truck punches through the median protection and hits oncoming traffic. This is a catastrophic failure of the safety system.

Standard temporary barriers are often too light (2 tons) to stop a fully loaded dump truck (40 tons). For critical zones, we supply Heavy-Mass Barriers (4 tons+). These provide the inertial resistance needed to absorb the kinetic energy of a heavy vehicle impact, preventing the crossover nightmare.
